the government will increase the energy sector r&d budget by 3 percent from this year, with the amount standing above the 1 trillion won (870 million u.s. dollar) level for the first time.
the plan aims to gear up the nation's drive for green growth, with most of the investment in promoting energy-related technologies and green strategies, the ministry said.
the nation's state-run energy firms, led by the korea electric power corp. (kepco), will take out 930 billion won (805 million u. s. dollars) for r&d investment, while energy-related research institutions are pledging to spend around 415 billion won (360 million u.s. dollars), the ministry added.
